The Highland girls track team won the team title Saturday at Blackwellâ€™s Hornet Relays by scoring 143 points for a 71-point win over Stamford, which was second with 72 points.
The host Blackwell girls scored 66 points to place fifth at the meet.
Highland placed first in four events and was second in four others. Its winners were Madison Moseley in the 1600 run (6:16.18) and the triple jump (31-5 1/2), Lora Stewart in the 400 dash (1:06.12) and the 800 relay of Morgan Monroe, Sierra Allen, Stewart and Moseley (1:59.78).
Placing second were Beth Richburg in the 100 hurdles (18.50) and 300 hurdles (53.69), Taylar Hammond in the 1600 run (6:46.62) and the Lady Hornetsâ€™ 400 relay of Tarin Weldy, Schyler Kimbrell, Monroe and Sabrina Romero (57.31).
Allen was third in the 400 (1:09.25) and Monroe was third in the shot put (23-10 1/4); Weldy was fourth in the 200 (29.84) and Hammond was fourth in the 800 (3:02.09); Romero placed fifth in the 800 (3:02.30); and Kimbrell was sixth in the 100 dash (14.58).
For Blackwell, Stephanie Metcalf won the 100 dash (13.56) and Metcalf was second in the 200 (29.12). Elizabeth Rozzlle was third in the 300 hurdles (59.88). Blackwellâ€™s 400 relay consisting of Larissa Roland, Rozzlle, Metcalf and Bethany Breaux placed fourth (58.50), as did three individuals â€” Bailey McGlothlin in the 100 hurdles (22.34), Metcalf in the triple jump (29-2 3/4) and Breaux in the shot put (23-2 1/4).
Also for Blackwell, April Cole was fifth in the 1600 (7:41.80) and sixth in the 800 (3:15.28); Leonor Castillo was fifth in the 400 (1:18.40) and sixth in the shot (23-0); Mireya Sanchez was fifth in the triple jump (26-10 1/2); Metcalf was sixth in the long jump (13-9 1/2); and Brooklyn Harris was sixth in the 400 (1:20.75).
