Highland girls to get warmup

The Highland Lady Hornets will get in another game when they face New Home in a playoff warmup tonight at 8 p.m. in Hermleigh.

The 2011-12 basketball season ends today for the Roscoe boys and the Sweetwater, Highland and Blackwell boys finish up Tuesday, leaving Highland’s girls as the county’s only playoff-bound team after ending their season with a win at Westbrook this past Friday.
But the Lady Hornets will get in another game this week when they face New Home in a playoff warmup. The game is in Hermleigh and tips off at 8 p.m. today.
Sweetwater’s boys are idle today before ending their 2011-12 season next Tuesday at Snyder.
But Roscoe’s boys (1-8 in District 9-A, Division II) will end their season by hosting Munday, which is the district co-leader at 8-1.
In District 11-A, Division II, Highland’s boys (3-7) will be taking on Hermleigh (6-5) prior to the Highland girls’ game in Hermleigh, set to tip off at 6:30 p.m. The Highland boys will then return to their gym to end the season next Tuesday when they host Roby.
Blackwell’s boys (0-12 in District 12-A, Division II) will travel to Veribest (1-11) today, and end their season Tuesday by hosting Bronte (8-4 in district).
Highland’s girls finished 10-2 in district and will be entering the playoffs with a 22-7 record.
This is the 11th straight playoff trip for the Lady Hornets, who finished as the District 11-A, Division II runnerup to Roby.
Highland will begin the Class 1A, Division II play-offs by facing Sterling City (22-9) in bi-district on Monday at Winters High School at 7 p.m.
Sterling City finished 9-5 in District 12-A, Division II as the No. 3 team.
