Highland ISD hires new superintendent

During a called School Board meeting held on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, Highland ISD School Board voted to hire Duane Hyde as their new Superintendent.

During a called School Board meeting held on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, Highland ISD School Board voted to hire Duane Hyde as their new Superintendent. 
Hyde was previously in the position of the school’s Secondary Principal, a position that he has held since 2005. Prior to that, he had also been principal for Merkel ISD and for Blackwell CISD. His experience also includes math teacher, coach and Athletic Director. 
Hyde holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Angelo State University and a Master of Education degree from Sul Ross State University. He obtained his Superintendent Certification in 2004 from the University of Texas Permian Basin. 
As a 1985 graduate of Highland ISD, Mr. Hyde is familiar with the school and surrounding community. “I’m excited about this opportunity, and look forward to continuing Highland’s standard of excellence,” said Hyde following the Board meeting Monday night. Hyde fills the position formerly held by Guy Nelson.
