Highland JH gets 1st district win

Highland’s junior high football team tries to finish its season today against Hermleigh with a two-game winning streak after picking up its first district victory, 47-13, this past week against Aspermont.
Kevin Box had touchdown runs of 15 and 48 yards and returned an interception 20 yards for another score for Highland (1-1 district, 4-4 overall). Shelby Howard, Tracer Jones, Matthew Leyba and Jeremy Hall also had scoring runs for the Hornets. Howard kicked two extra points and Branson Thomas had an extra point run. Howard was the top rusher with 77 yards on two carries.
Box, Gaga Wibowo and Chris Sorrells all had interceptions for Highland and Leyba re-covered a fumble. Jones had seven tackles, Jacob Richburg six, Wibowo, Box and Howard five and Sorrells and Zach Cornett three.
