Highland jumper has reached new heights

As a fifth grader in 2009, Jon Basye got a taste of the excitement of competing at the highest level.
This Friday, though, will be Jon’s turn to be in the state spotlight as he will be competing in the Class 1A boys high jump at 5 p.m. in Austin. Basye qualified by clearing 6-4 to for a second-place finish at the regional meet held in San Angelo.
