Highland OAP advances to district competition
Highland High School's one-act play advanced from Zone Competition in Roby on Tuesday, March 22. Scenes from "The Fastest Woman Alive," by Karen Sunde, published by Dramatic Publishing, is the story of Jackie Cochran and the WASP — Women's Aircorp Service Pilots — who were stationed at Avenger Field in Sweetwater, Texas during WWII. The play tells of the heroism, triumphs and hardships of these very special, determined and dedicated women. The story brings to life a significant period in the history of the world, Nolan County and Sweetwater. Special recognition went to the following: Best Actress, Katy Fullwood; All-Star Cast, Bailey Nervig; Honorable Mention All-Star Cast, Preston Rowlett and Jessica McCain; Outstanding Crew Member, Steven Johns. Other members of the company include Megan Thompson, Sierra Allen, Sofie Stice, Morgan Monroe, Julia Tibbit, Schyler Kimbrell, Tarin Weldy, Steven Tester, Jordan Garza, Garrett Stewart, Laramie Thompson, Kaden Nachlinger, Mitchel Taylor and Toby Falcon. The directors are Judy Etheredge and Lisa Fullwood. Highland, along with Blackwell's "Over the River and through the Woods," will compete with Bronte and Santa Anna at District Contest on Tuesday, March 29, in Bronte. Highland will perform at approximately 3:30 p.m.
