Highland Lady Hornets

BRONTE — Highland’s Lady Hornets overcame a four-point deficit after three quarters to beat Robert Lee 36-31 in a Class 1A, Divi-sion II bi-district playoff on Tuesday.
Led by Sierra Allen’s 11 points, Highland — which also trailed by two points, 14-12, at intermission — outscored Robert Lee 15-6 in the fourth quarter to advance to the area playoffs later this week. Highland (20-11), which forced seven turnovers in the final period, will now face Wink (22-3). The teams are scheduled to meet at Lenorah Grady at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Allen, a freshman post, scored nine of her points in the second half and High-land’s defense took over. “We just got more aggressive defensively,” coach Ryan Dollar said. “We were pretty sluggish in the first half. We decided if we didn’t want the season to be over to just get after it. Sierra did a good job. She’s improved tremendously since the start of the year.”
Kara Hughey finished with nine points, while Jessica McCain had eight, Callie Sandusky five and Shyan Womack three.
Robert Lee ended its season with a 19-11 record.
