Highland scores 86 to bury Sands for 2nd win

There was no defense for the Highland Hornets on Friday when they traveled to Sands and claimed a resounding 86-44 win.
Highland (2-2) got five TDs by Ron Covington plus three scoring runs by Mich-ael Hyde in the game.
Covington had 46- and 50-yard kickoff returns for touchdowns in the game in addition to having three scoring runs of his own.
Highland led Sands by 10, 30-20, at halftime after Covington had his first kickoff return for a touchdown from 46 yards out with only 12 seconds left. Covington also completed the scoring in the fourth quarter with his 50-yard kickoff return.
Ethan Wilson’s 39-yard TD pass to Gaga Soedarsono gave Highland the first lead in the game, and Shelby Howard had two TD runs for the Hornets. Hyde led all rushers with 133 yards and Wilson was 4-of-8 passing and Jacob Richburg also completed a pass, while Howard had two catches and Zack Cornett, Coving-ton and Soedarsono one.
The defensive standouts were Howard with 16 tackles (11 solo) and two fumble recoveries; Wilson with 12 tackles (seven solo) and a fumble recovery; Soedarsono with 11 tackles (six solo); Hyde with 14 tackles (seven solo); and Covington with nine tackles (five solo). Cornett was in on five tackles.
Highland begins a three-week homestand by hosting Trent this Friday.
