Both Highland teams heading to postseason play

Highland will be rep-resented by two teams in the upcoming 2013 basketball playoffs after sweeping a doubleheader with Roscoe on Friday at Highland’s gym.
The Highland girls as-sured themselves of the District 13-A title by win-ning 39-17, as the Lady Hornets improved to 9-0 in district and 26-3 for the season. Roscoe, despite losing, is still in second place in the district (6-3) and needs only to beat last-place Loraine at home on Tuesday to wrap up a playoff berth.
The Highland boys will be in the postseason after edging Roscoe 38-36 in the nightcap of Friday’s doubleheader.
The Hornets (5-2 in District 13-A) remained in third place and have a three-game lead over the team with the next best record (Loraine) with three games to play.
Roscoe fell to 1-6 in the district with the loss.
More information on both of the games will be included in Monday’s paper. Highland travels to Hermleigh Tuesday as the District 13-A girls teams will complete their regular seasons.
