The visiting teams from Highland emerged with a sweep on Friday against Roscoe in the teams’ District 13-1A doubleheader.
Highland’s girls clinched the 13-1A title with a 54-19 win, while Highland’s boys defeated Roscoe 36-33 to move into second place in 13-1A with three games left.
Blackwell’s results at Bronte were not available at press time on Saturday.
Thanks to Friday’s victory, the Highland boys (5-2) are alone in second place and just one win away from joining the Highland girls in the playoffs out of District 13-1A for the second straight year. The Lady Hornets (9-0), in addition to boasting a 25-2 season record and the No. 2 state ranking in 1A, Division II, are also the 13-1A champions for the second year in a row as well.
Roscoe (4-3) led the boys game 8-6 after one quarter but Highland was up 21-16 at halftime and 28-24 after three periods. Highland was led by Jacob Richburg’s nine points, while Cutter Davila had 11 to pace Roscoe.
Roscoe’s girls (6-3) are tied for second with Ira after playing their final district game. Tuesday’s game at Loraine will be a forfeit win for Roscoe as Loraine cancelled its season. If Ira beats Westbrook on Tuesday, a tiebreaker will be required to decide playoff seeding.
On Friday, Highland got 17 points from Sierra Allen and 10 by Madison Moseley. Roscoe, which trailed 21-8 at halftime, got six points from Shelby Brown.
