The 0-2 Sweetwater boys will try again for their first district win, while the 1-2 girls shoot for two straight when they host Brownwood today at Mustang Gym.
The girls (16-12 overall) who tip off at 6 p.m., need just one more win to assure themselves of finishing over .500 for the first time in five years. Sweetwater crushed Big Spring 59-35 this past Tuesday as Kinsey Brown-ing and Taylor McKoy each had 16 points. Brownwood is 2-1 in District 5-3A play.
The boys lost 75-46 at Big Spring despite 14 points by Taylor Jones and 13 by Paxton Kelley as they fell to 6-16 overall, while the state-ranked Steers improved to 18-6 overall and 2-0 in district play.
Big Spring and Wylie share the early 5-3A lead and are the only teams with winning records. Brownwood and Snyder are both 0-1. The boys game will tip off at about 7:30 p.m.
