Funeral services for Horace Hoskins, 93, of Sweetwater, will be held on 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Keith Clower officiating. Interment will follow at the Garden of Memories. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013 at McCoy Funeral Home.
Hoskins died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 in Sweetwater.
He was born on Nov. 8, 1919 in Bonham, Texas. He married Ellen Bryant on Sept. 8, 1943 in Snyder.
He lived in Sweetwater for the past 70 years. He was a self-employed mechanic for many years and was a very active member of Highland Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved to go fishing and hunting as it was one of his most beloved hobbies. He was also a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his son, Randy Hoskins and wife Annette of San Marcos; granddaughter, Wendi Leigh Petty and husband Rolan of Sweetwater; grandson, Dusty Ray Hoskins and wife Tracy of Sweetwater; five great-grandchildren Cheyanna Petty, Brooklynn Petty, Justynne Petty, Gage Hoskins and Gatlyn Hoskins, all of Sweetwater; and a niece, Juanelle Lago and husband Richard of Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Hoskins; two sons, Larry Dean Hoskins and Wendal Ray Hoskins; two brothers; and three sisters.
