Hospital board election cancelled

March 26, 2014

At the Monday night meeting of the Nolan County Hospital District's board of directors, approval was given to cancel the board election, due to the fact that there were no opposed candidates.
However, board members will be considering a candidate for a replacement for the unexpired term for District 1 between now and next month's meeting.
In other new business, the clinical contracts were reviewed and approved. The list--which is required and was sent to the medical executive committee prior to being presented to the board--ensures qualifications and was recommended for approval by administration.
The minutes from the previous meeting were approved, along with the minutes from the special-called meetings on February 28 and March 11. And following a brief executive session, the credentialing files, on-going professional performance evaluation and quality report were approved as well.
Hospital administrator Donna Boatright gave a brief update on medical staff, in which she gave a positive report on a recent staff meeting. In addition, she noted that the obstetrics department recently received a distinguished rating for various services and overall care.
Updates were also given on physician recruiting, and an update on the bond election was given in that discussion is taking place on the schedule of events leading up to the May election.
