Holy Mass of Christian Burial for Ignacio Valdez, 70, of Sweetwater will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Father Charles Okonkwo will officiate and interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at McCoy Chapel of Memories.
Valdez died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
He was born July 29, 1943 in Cameron, TX.
Ignacio lived in Sweetwater for the past 65 years and retired from Rolling Plains Co-Op Compress as a fork lift operator. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and was an avid sports fan. Ignacio was a beloved uncle and cherished his nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his sisters, Rosa Hoag and husband Eric of Temple, TX, Lydia Massey of San Antonio, Lupe Solano and husband Merced of San Antonio, Socorro Ramon and Rito of Sweetwater; brother, Joe Valdez and wife Rita of Sweetwater; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Delores Aranda Valdez; brother-in-law, William Massey; and his beloved friend Joanna Creek.
Pallbearers will be David Alcala, Victor Vargas, Terri Ramon, Merced Solano, Delia DeLoera and Ysrael Balderas.
