Ivy Mae Haywood Hurst

Funeral services for Ivy Mae Haywood Hurst, 79, of Abilene and formerly of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Jerry Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Hurst died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Abilene. She was born on Dec. 22, 1931, in Longworth, Tex. She married Harmon Gene Hurst on Jan. 19, 1951, in Sweetwater. She was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church in Sweetwater and had lived in Sweetwater since 1964. She worked for Southwestern Bell about one year before her marriage. She was a homemaker and a beautiful lady.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Hurst of Abilene; daughter, Vicki Berkobien of Abilene; son, Terry Hurst and wife Kathy of Broken Arrow, Okla.; sister, Erma Lee Audsley and husband Joe of Kansas City, Mo.; granddaughters, Miranda Morris and husband Wolfgame of Lago Vista, Tex., Rebecca Faith Hughes and husband Michael of Hempstead and Kari Hurst of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and three great-grandchildren, Indica, Pippi and Abigail.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Everett and Pommie Haywood; a brother, Royce Haywood; and a sister, Frances McCullogh.
Pallbearers will be Robert Stevens, Neal Squires, Scooter Scott, Jack Kennedy, Stanley Lewis and Daryl Mullican.
Honorary pallbearer will be Ronnie Joe Dennis.
