Graveside services for James Dow Green, 76, of Sweetwater will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Sweetwater Cemetery. Rev. Keith Clower will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at McCoy Funeral Home.
Green died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
He was born July 12, 1937 in Canadian, Texas. He married Glenda Carol Cargill on Dec. 29, 1981 in Sweetwater.
James loved to go fishing and being in the outdoors. He was always smiling and loved being around his loved ones. James was a friend to all he met. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory, Abilene, Texas 79601 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Green of Sweetwater; daughters, Jackie Yvonne Tucker and husband Jimmy of Florida and Vicky Davis and husband Robert of Arkansas; step daughters, Jeannette Hewitt of Oregon, Shyonia Hewitt and husband of Arizona and Melody Cardonia and husband of Oregon; step sons, Richard Hewitt and wife of Oregon, and Matthew Hewitt and wife of Thorton, Texas; sisters, Joan Holley of Ferris, Texas, and Doris Vinson of Anna, Texas; brother, Gary Herron and wife Wanda of Burnet, Texas; brother-in-law, L.D. Louthan of Sweetwater; 27 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Green and Dorothy Spain; and sisters, Marsha Louthan and Willa Powell.
Pallbearers will be Howard Presley, Tucker Mullican, Joshua Rains, Shane Rains, Lonnie Henshaw and Britt Powell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Powell, Jimmy Don Powell, Les Soles and Daryl Mullican.
