A private family graveside service for James Elmer Rainey, 37, of Trent and Sweetwater will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Rev. Ward Hayes and Rev. Ronnie Freeman officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Rainey died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, in Nolan County.
He was born Dec. 30, 1972, in Abilene. He was married to Amy Dianne Teague. James was a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church in Sweetwater and First Baptist Church in Trent. He was a 1991 graduate of Sweetwater High School where he was a member of the FFA and enjoyed showing his animals. He was a graduate of Western Texas College in Snyder with an Associate's degree in welding in which he held an instructor's certificate. He was a self-employed welder most of his working life. He was a lifelong resident of Sweetwater.
Survivors include his son, Jacob Rainey of Trent; his daughter, Marianne Rainey of Trent; his parents, Barbara and Wayne Rainey of Sweetwater; brothers, Ronnie Rainey and wife Kathy of Sweetwater and R.D. Rainey and wife Robin of Sweetwater; nephews, Shaun Rainey of Lubbock and Shelton Rainey of Abilene; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amy D. Rainey on Dec. 20, 2010.
