Funeral services for James "Jimmy" LeRoy Stevens, 81, of Sweetwater, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Rev. Keith Clowers officiating. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home.
Stevens died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Sweetwater. He was a Baptist and had lived in Sweetwater for the past 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Stevens worked as a security guard for Walls Industries in Sweetwater and for LTV Industries in Fort Worth for several years.
Survivors include one sister, Nina Ruth Carriger of Chandler; one brother, Billy Carriger of Chandler; and several nieces and nephews including Shirley Chance and her husband "Pooch" of Sweetwater.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Chuck Stevens; three sisters, Betty Hall, Clarice Rose and Lois Stevens; and his parents, Clarence and Estella Stevens.
Pallbearers will be his nephews, Roscoe Chance, Allen Chance, Justin Chance, Rusty Ledford, Ronnie Rose and Terry Rose.
