April 25, 2012

SWEETWATER — James (Stubby) Smith, Jr., passed away April 13, 2012. He was born Oct. 20, 1941, to James Eldon Smith and Elsie Vida Gober in Brownwood, TX. The light of his life was his daughter, Amanda Leigh Knight, who preceded him in death in 2008, along with his parents; and brother, Jerry Don Smith.
James is survived by his long-time companion, Jamie Strickland of Rotan; his sister, Sandra Miller and her husband Wayne of Brownwood; nieces, Michelle Loyd and her husband Terry from Coleman, Melissa Davis and her husband Scotty of Brownwood and Shelly Smith of San Antonio; and many great-nieces and nephews.
James was employed by Joe South Trucking of Clyde for many years. James was an avid hunter and loved fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends. His last wishes were for his family and friends to celebrate his life and not mourn his death.
