Jason D. Williams will be bringing his energetic style of music to Sweetwater again, Friday, April 13, at the Municipal Auditorium, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Hearing Williams and his great piano playing is entertaining in itself, but seeing him live is a whole different experience. This musician gets physically involved in his music. He rarely just sits at the piano, but is usually all around it. That’s why he’s often compared to music legend Jerry Lee Lewis.
Williams’ ability to put on a show is matched well with his musicianship and how well he relates to the audience. That is why he has appeared on such television shows as MTV’s The Week in Rock, VH1’s This is Country, Crook & Chance, Entertainment Tonight and Regis and Kathie Lee.
His piano skills come from playing from the age of three. Although he never learned to read music, he took piano lessons from a man he described as a “very gifted teacher and classical performer.” Williams said he now plays just about every instrument there is.
Williams began taking up songwriting again in 2010 and produced an album with Todd Snider. Snider commented on Williams’ “ability to create poetry on the spot” and how fun it was creating music with him because “Jason would say something, then start playing and we’d say let’s chase one and drop the other.” They will release a second album together this year.
Williams performs a wide range of musical styles, from classical to rockabilly, country to jazz, gospel, and of course rock and roll, giving him the ability to reach any fan of music.
Tickets will be available for the Sweetwater concert at the Chamber of Commerce. The cost per ticket is $10 each for regular seating and $15 each for reserve seating. Reserved seats will be located in the front middle rows and also come with a chance to meet Williams before the show. All ticket revenues will go to improvements for the Municipal Auditorium.
