Jeanne Palafox Wells is announcing her candidacy for Nolan County Treasurer.
Wells has served as County Treasurer since  March 1, 2013, when she was appointed by the Nolan County Commissioners to fill the rest of the unexpired term vacated by former county treasurer Gayle Biggerstaff.
Prior to her appointment, she worked in the County Auditor's office for six years as an Assistant Auditor. In this role, she audited various county offices, including the Treasurer's office.Â
The treasurer and auditor offices work together, which allowed Wells to learn the systems and coding procedures. She additionally learned all state fees collected by the County Clerk, District Clerk, and Justice of Peace which have to be reported quarterly to the State.Â
Wells also worked for eleven years with the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council before her employment within the Nolan County Courthouse.
Born and raised in Sweetwater, Wells is a 1978 graduate of Sweetwater High School. She has a daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Matt Gesin, and a son, Dustin Wells, along with one granddaughter, Emerson Gesin.
Wells believes that her past qualifications and current role make her a qualified candidate for this future position.Â
"I would greatly appreciate the votes from county residents," she concluded.
