A graveside service for Jerry L. Fuqua, 57, of Sweetwater, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene with Military Graveside Rites performed by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Rev. Teddy Seales will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Fuqua died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at his residence.
He was born April 17, 1954, in Springdale, Ark. He married Denise Carr on April 3, 1973, in Kermit. He worked for ADM Feeds for 10 years and Elgen Company (Ludlum's) for the past seven years. He lived in Sweetwater the past 22 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Fuqua of Sweetwater; son, Jeromy Fuqua of Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Janine Fuqua of Sweetwater; brother, Raymond Fuqua and wife Rosa of Wink; mother, Elsie Fuqua of Rogers, Ark.; father, Jay Fuqua and wife Della of Woodson; father-in-law, Bob Carr of Sweetwater; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David and Kara Warren of Sweetwater and Teddy and Gina Seales of Midland; and brother-in-law, Bill Garrett of Wink; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathy Garrett and Linda Pipkin; and his mother-in-law, Sandra Carr.
