Graveside services for Jessie Lee Johnson, 90, of Abilene, will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 at Blackwell Cemetery. Rev. Claude McKiddy will officiate and interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Johnson died Monday, Aug. 5, 2013 at Crest View Retirement Center in Bryan, Texas.
She was born May 5, 1923 in Blackwell. She married Benjamin Franklin Johnson on June 13, 1942 in Blackwell. Mrs. Johnson lived in Abilene from 1951 until 1958, then in Pampa, Texas from 1958 until 1968, in Lubbock from 1968 to 1978, and in San Antonio from 1978 to 1986 before finally moving back to Abilene. She was employed as a sales clerk and retired from the J.C. Penny Company. She was a member of Elmwood West United Methodist Church in Abilene.
Survivors include her daughter, Jan Childress of Bryan; son, Benjamin L. Johnson and wife Debby of Austin; grandchildren, Brian A. Johnson of Dripping Springs, Texas and Sara Childress-Goodwin of Brownwood; great-grandchildren, Shelby Johnson of Dripping Springs and Megan Johnson of Dripping Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 12, 2010, and four brothers and sisters.
