Jettie May McCrary Wood, 95, passed away Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, in Kingwood, TX. A visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, from 11 a.m. to noon at McCoy Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Reverend James Baker officiating, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Jettie was born in Coleman County to Sam and Jane McCrary. She married Elbert E. Wood Sept. 6, 1936, and they moved to Sweetwater in February 1944. Elbert worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He died in 1952. Jettie worked for Dr. Supowit for over eight years in the 50s and 60s. Jettie was a member of the Mamie D. Crain Order of the Eastern Star Chapter # 1018. She was a beauty operator and licensed in real estate. She has lived in Kingwood, Texas the past 5 1/2 years.
She is survived by daughters, Zelma Montgomery and husband Mac of Gun Barrel City, Texas and Sammie Scott of Kingwood, Texas; grandsons, Jim Montgomery and wife LeAnn of Grapevine, Texas and John Montgomery and wife Polly of Allen, Texas; granddaughters, Belinda Fagin and husband Paul of Kingwood, Texas, Kelley Paige of Richmond, Texas, Missy Fisher of Louisiana and Laura Podschun and husband Jim of Florida. She had 10 great-grandchildren. Jettie loved her family, grands and great-grands.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Wood; her parents, Sam and Mary McCrary; a daughter, Shirley Fidei; four brothers; three sisters; and a son-in-law, Maurice Scott.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Jim and John Montgomery, Paul Fagin and great-grandson Reid Fagin.
Memorials may be made to the Sweetwater Cemetery Trust Fund, 200 E. 4th Street, Sweetwater, Texas 79556 or the West Texas Rehab Center in Abilene, Texas.
