A graveside service for Jimmie Watson "Jim" Brown, 85, of Sweetwater will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Sweetwater Cemetery with Lloyd Harris officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Brown died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at his home.
He was born Sept. 1, 1925, in the Capitola community in Fisher County, Texas. He married Sue Glass on July 17, 1943, in Sweetwater. Jim attended grammar school at Capitola, junior high in Fisher County and graduated from Hobbs High School in Rotan in 1943. He was Protestant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving in the South Pacific with the 20th Air Force. He was a lifelong resident of Nolan and Fisher Counties. He owned and operates Jim Brown Paint Contractors.
Survivors include his brothers, Will Douglas (Bill) Brown and wife Wynelle of Carbon and Fred Allen Brown and wife Donna of Eastland; two nephews, Kris Brown and wife D'Aun of Carbon and Jim Cole Brown of May; and two great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue on Dec. 13, 2005; one daughter at birth; a sister, Gladys Jo; and his parents, Fred Brown and Gladys McCain Brown.
