Funeral services for J.L. Campbell, 81, of Roscoe, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at Champion Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at Champion Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, 2011, at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Campbell died Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011, at Nolan Nursing and Rehab Center in Sweetwater.
He was born Oct. 21, 1930, in Roscoe. He married Roberta C. Bankhead on June 11, 1949, in Roscoe. J.L. had lived in the Roscoe area since 1930 and attended Highland School. He was a member of Champion Baptist Church. He had worked for USG, was a cotton ginner, worked for Nolan County Precinct 1 for 20 years and was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Roberta Campbell of Champion Community, Roscoe, Texas; son, Bob Campbell and wife Jeanette of Snyder, Texas; daughter, Patsy Sanford of Roscoe, Texas; grandchildren, Shae Sanford and wife Caroline of Abilene, Texas, Kyle Sanford and wife Brooke of Bronte, Texas and Courtney Campbell of Abilene, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Seth and Tyson Sanford of Abilene, Texas and Aubree Sanford of Bronte, Texas
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Campbell on Dec. 6, 1971 and Loyd T. Campbell on July 1, 2005; and his sister, Frances Petty on Oct. 15, 2010.
Pallbearers will be James Wells, Randall Bankhead, Wendell Bankhead, Ray Carnathan, Bill Ivey and Jimmy Johns.
