Funeral services for Joe Garcia, 65, of Spring Texas, formerly of Sweetwater, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Military Graveside Rites at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Father Dennis Bosley will officiate.
A wake will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012 at McCoy Funeral Home in Sweetwater.
Garcia died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, in Houston, Texas.
He was born Aug. 31, 1946 in Smithville, Texas. He married Judith Evans in July of 2003 in Louisiana. Joe had lived in Sweetwater moving to Spring, Texas recently. He was a member of the Saint Stephens Episcopal Church in Sweetwater. He worked in containerized shipping most of his working life. He was a graduate of Loraine High School and received a Degree in Business from the California State University at Los Angeles in 1973. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Evans of Spring, Texas; daughter, Tiffany Kittleson and husband Jason of Sweetwater; two grandchildren, Dakota and Elijah Kittleson; son, Joseph Evan Garcia of Spring, Texas; brother, Matt Garcia of Rockwell, Texas; sisters, Juanita Franco and husband Refugio of Odessa, Ann Flores of Edmond, Okla., Mary Wheeler of Roscoe, Della Garcia of Pierre, South Dakota, Esther Castro and husband Angel III of Lubbock, Texas, Gladys Arsenault of Wylie, Texas, Geneva Meneses of Roscoe, Dorothy Ramos and husband Domingo of Waco, Texas and Golda Christ and husband David of Wylie, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Matilde Garcia, Sr.; mother, Felipa Bonilla Garcia; and brother, Matilde Garcia, Jr.
Pallbearers will be David Jones, Alex Adames, Joseph Evan Garcia, Matilde Garcia III, Frank Edward Garcia, Esrom Anthony Martinez and Joshua Grenier.
