John Carl Thompson

John Carl Thompson died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 in Garland, Texas.
He is survived by his loving and faithful wife, Joan Catherine.
He also leaves behind several cousins, nieces and  nephews, His brother, Bobbie Thompson of Colorado Springs, also survives him.
John was a WWII veteran who served in the Atlantic. John earned the title of "Colonel" and during this time was admired, appreciated and respected by his peers. He had many interests which included helping to build the WASP Museum in Sweetwater. His  hobbies included tractors, trains (helped remodel the Big Boy in Fair Park), restore B17's, collected WWII books, photography and his beloved Bluegrass. He had an incredible sense of humor and a witty and gregarious personality.
A memorial service was held at the Plaza Theatre in Garland on Jan. 18. His military funeral at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Military Cemetery was March 5, 2014. His widow gave his flag to his cousin, Mike Jackson.
