Funeral services for John Trotter, 56, of Sweetwater, will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Broadway Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Stephens and Rev. Joe Johnson officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, at McCoy Funeral Home.
The family will be at 1412 E. 13th Street in Sweetwater.
Trotter died Wednesday, Nov. 21, in Sweetwater.
He was born Sept. 16, 1956, in Morrilton, Arkansas. He married Debbie La Jo Polnack on June 25, 1977 in Sweetwater. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and he was an active member of the choir and bus driver for the church. He was employed with the SISD maintenance department. John was a past member of the Sweetwater Jaycees, Sweetwater Rifle and Pistol Club, loved bowling, hunting fishing and golf. He served as a ringman for many years for the Nolan County Live Stock Association and was a United States Army Veteran. John moved to Sweetwater in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie La Jo Trotter of Sweetwater; daughter, Jami Smith and husband Brian of Baulch Springs, TX; son, Jared Trotter and wife Maranda of Sweetwater; mother, Emma Trotter of San Jose, CA; brothers, James Trotter and wife Cheryl of San Jose, CA and Jackie Trotter of San Jose, CA; sister, Rhonita Comacho and husband Julio of San Jose, CA; four grandchildren; and father-in-law, Matthew A. Polnack of Sweetwater.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerold Trotter, on Nov. 17, 1989; and his mother-in-law, Beaulah Polnack, on Oct. 4, 1997.
Palbearers will be James Smith, Joe Don Smith, Ruben Gutierrez, Darrel Hardin, Curtis Ferguson, and Ronnie Hatfield.
Honorary pallbearers will be men of Broadway Baptist Church, SISD maintenance crew and the bus drivers.
