Jonathan Michael Smith-Aguilar, age 21, of Midland passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at an Odessa hospital after an auto accident. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at McCoy Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater. Interment will follow at the Sweetwater Cemetery. Mike Ensminger and Sarah Cardiel will officiate.
A visitation will be held Thursday, July 25, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Michael was born Nov. 2, 1991 in Abilene and was a graduate of Robert Lee High School in Midland. He was employed by Nolan H. Brunson, Inc. as a swamper. He had lived in Midland, Mineral Wells and Sweetwater throughout his life.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather Jennifer and Brian Butler of Mineral Wells; father and stepmother, Rosendo â€śTreyâ€ť and Mary Aguilar of Midland; brothers, Brandan Butler of Mineral Wells, Joseph (JoJo) Aguilar and Mark Anthony Vasquez, both of Midland; sisters, Crystal Aguilar of Sweetwater and Alyssa Aguilar of Midland. He is also survived by his grandparents, Judy and Dale Critz of Sweetwater, Freddie and Cindy Smith of Mesquite, Joe and Vicki Gamez of Sweetwater and Alicia Martinez of Sweetwater; great-grandparents, Don and Evelyn Gann of Hawley and Maria Carreon of Sweetwater; aunt and uncle, Rebecca and Michael Aguilar of Midland; and numerous other aunts, uncles, great-aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandfather, Rosendo Aguilar, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Flores, Jason Bond, Matthew Butler, Marc Butler, Fabian Velasco, Mark Vasquez, David Olgin, Jr. and Michael Aguilar.
Jonathan loved life and he loved his family. His motto was â€śfamily first.â€ť His smile lit up a room and he will forever be in the hearts of those who loved him.
