Jose “Joe” Benigno Almanza

ROTAN — Jose “Joe” Benigno Almanza, 73, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013 at Sweetwater Healthcare Center. 
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2013 at Belvieu Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee-Ray Funeral Home.  
Rosary will be Tuesday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to weathersbeerayfh.com.
Born Oct. 26, 1940, in Rotan, TX, Jose “Joe” was a son of the late Gil and Refugia “Cuca” (Lopez) Almanza. He was a farmer for most of his life. “Joe” as he was known by his family and friends enjoyed worshiping the Lord and spending time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jose Almanza, Jr.; his daughter, Nora Almanza; two brothers, John Frank and Santos Almanza; his sister, Vivian Vega; and a parent, Maria Almanza.
Joe is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Lucy Almanza of Chandler, Ariz.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia Huntley and her husband Mark of Glencoe, IL, Linda Vera and her husband Rudy of Sweetwater and Veronica Casas and her husband Harold of Portland, TX; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
