Funeral services for Joy R. Boatright, 92, of Sweetwater, will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 9, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Sweetwater with Rev. Brian Brownlow officiating. Internment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at McCoy Funeral Home, located at 410 E. Third in Sweetwater.
Boatright died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital. She was born June 21, 1920, in Trumbull, Texas. She married Jake Boatright on Aug. 10, 1940, in Sweetwater. Joy was a member of the First United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Chancel Choir and United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Business Professional Women (BPW) along with Friends of The Museum. Joy was a Co-Owner of Cowen’s Shoe Store. Joy has lived in Sweetwater since 1939. The family would like to especially thank Dr. Luther Martin, Cheryl Kelley and the care staff of Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Survivors include her son, Kent Boatright and wife Donna of Sweetwater; daughter, Carla Danford and husband Gary of Ft. Worth; three grandchildren, Lisa Clark of San Antonio, Caj Boatright of Kingwood and Andrew Boatright of Ft. Worth; five great-grandchildren, Brannen Rivera, Austin Rivera, Rebeka Rivera, Ty Boatright and Jake Boatright; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and faithful friends Jessica Messersmith and Tammy Flores
She was preceded in death by her husband, “Jake” Carl Boatright on Dec. 21, 2002.
Pallbearers will be Abe Nayfa, Terry Boley, Austin Rivera, Brannon Rivera, Caj Boatright and Andrew Boatright.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Clark and Darrell Hulme.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pioneer Museum, 610 East Third Street, Sweetwater, TX 79556.
