Joyce Marie Burnett Parrish

Joyce Marie Burnett Parrish, 67, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, beloved mother, daughter, sister and aunt, passed away at home into the loving arms of our Lord on March 17, 2013. Joyce was born on March 26, 1945, in Sweetwater to Mancell C. and Ruby M. (Weaver) Burnett.
A devoted Christian, Joyce faithfully served her community for many years. She was a long-time member of the Salvation Army Board, Girl Scout leader and was a foster grandparent working with many children in the local schools. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, collecting cookbooks, her cat Millie as well as entertaining family and friends. She was a lifelong learner and enjoyed taking college classes. She was a proud Mustang from Sweetwater High School and looked forward to attending her 50th class reunion this coming summer.
She worked in various hospitals and nursing homes throughout the area as a coder, transcriptionist and medical records director.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Mary Jane Jones of Arkansas and Sharon Faye Herrington of California; a brother, Robert Newman of Texas and her loving aunt Laura Burnett of Texas who raised her and affectionately considered her another daughter.
She is survived by and will be greatly missed by her children, David Anthony Parrish of Cheyenne, WY and Kenneth and Stephanie Suzanne (Parrish) Karstoft of Casper, WY; her sisters, Betty Jo Kelly of Texas and Myra (Jeff) Woodell of Texas; brothers, Eugene Burnett of Arkansas, Greg Felts of Texas, Leonard (Sherry) Burnett of Oklahoma; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Private family services have been held. Online condolences may be made at or mailed to the family.
She will be incredibly missed. Donations may be made in Joyce’s name to the Carbon Cemetery Association or the Natrona County Library Foundation.
