JV and freshman boys are winners

Sweetwater sub-varsity boys basketball coverage

The Sweetwater junior varsity and freshman boys basketball teams both came away with wins over Snyder here Tuesday in sub-varsity district contests.
The JV boys won 46-42 as they got 15 points from Trey Taylor and overcame a two-point deficit by outscoring Snyder 14-8 in the fourth quarter to improve to 2-2 in district and 15-8 overall. Brandon Howell and Quentin Wetsel had eight points, Mike McCoy six, Marquees Jenkins five and Deandre Gatson four for the Mustangs.
Sweetwater led 12-11 after one quarter, but trailed 25-23 at halftime and 34-32 after three quarters.
Duanta Williams led the freshman boys (2-2, 11-5) to a 44-24 victory by scoring 13 points.
Also scoring for Sweetwater were Bray Amos with eight points, J.P. Poe with seven, Martes Harris with six and Isaiah McGee and Rhett Torres with four.
Sweetwater led 13-5, 17-9 and 28-22 at the breaks and pulled away in the fourth quarter by outscoring Snyder 14-4.
