Sweetwater's sub-varsity football team recaps

Sweetwater’s junior var-sity and freshman football teams were victorious at Greenwood and Big Spring, respectively, last Thursday.
Both teams will be back home to host Big Spring at the Bowl this Thursday.
Sweetwater’s JV team is now 5-2 after defeating Greenwood’s JV 40-6.
Max Gomez was 13-of-24 passing for 194 yards and four touchdowns, with Sean Norman scoring two TDs on catches of 24 and 28 yards. Norman finished with four catches for 84 yards.
Gomez also threw scoring passes of 17 yards to J’Corey Amos and 30 yards to Jamar West, while Adrian Vizzerra (12, 88) had TD runs of 18 and 11 yards. Vizzerra and James Clift converted PATs. Vizzerra also recovered a fumble, Stephen Le blocked a punt and Michael Lawrence and Mike McCoy both had an interception for the Mustangs.
Coach Jake Freeman said that he thought Sweetwater did a great job of bouncing back from a narrow loss to Snyder (0-6) the previous week in its district opener.
“We had great execution on both sides of the ball,” he said. “We are going to enjoy this win and then get back to work for a tough Big Spring team.”
Sweetwater’s freshmen are also 5-2 after winning their game, 30-6, at Big Spring. Sweetwater got TD runs from Austin Kamer and Isaiah Gonzales for 2 and 6 yards. Gonzales also threw a 30-yard TD pass to Colby Greenwood, and the last score came in the fourth quarter on Colton Jackson’s 99-yard interception return. Gonzales, Adan Sanchez and Mark Lawrence all had PAT runs for Sweetwater.
Branson Guelker, C.J. Adames, Israel Vera, San-chez, Lawrence, Max Nem-ir, Alontae Heath, Keegan Von Atzigen, Joe Alaniz and Brandon Gutierrez were defensive standouts.
Sweetwater led 24-0 until giving up a Big Spring score in the fourth quarter.
Offensive standouts for Sweetwater in addition to Greenwood, Kamer and Gonzales were Deshaun Williams, Dylan Jimenez, Christie Ward, Corbin Bradley and Ray Bohall.
