JV is consolation winner at Lamesa

The Sweetwater High School junior varsity volleyball team overcame a slow start to win consolation honors this past weekend at a tournament in Lamesa.
Sweetwater dropped a 15-25, 17-25 decision to Seminole in its first match, but rebounded to win its last three matches.
The Lady Mustangs beat Plainview 16-25, 25-18, 25-22; Lubbock Estacado 25-9, 25-9; and Big Spring 25-22, 25-18.
Freshman volleyball takes 3rd at Lamesa
Sweetwater High School’s freshman volleyball team also played in a tournament at Lamesa over the weekend and placed third.
Sweetwater won its first match 25-21, 25-21 against Shallowater, but then lost to Seminole 23-25, 15-25 be-fore coming back to defeat Lamesa 25-10, 25-22 in the third place match.
8th grade results
The Sweetwater Middle School eighth grade Red team was second at a tournament it hosted recently.
Sweetwater beat Ranger 25-6, 25-8 before losing to Brownwood 25-18, 20-25, 15-25. In other recent matches, Sweetwater lost to Snyder 5-25, 15-25; lost to Wylie 9-25, 17-25; and beat Hawley 25-5, 25-9. Also, Sweetwater White defeated Hawley 25-21, 25-18.
7th grade results
The Sweetwater Middle School seventh grade Red team won first place and the seventh grade White was co-champion at the recent Sweetwater tournament.
Sweetwater Red defeated Ranger 25-6, 25-10 and Brownwood 25-18, 25-17 in its two matches, while Sweetwater White lost to Snyder 23-25, 25-16, 23-25 before beating Brownwood 25-22, 25-18 and Big Spring 25-23, 26-24.
In other recent matches, Sweetwater Red defeated Wylie 15-25, 25-12, 25-21 and Hawley 25-12, 25-5, while Sweetwater White beat Hawley 25-7, 25-6.
