Max Gomez threw for four touchdowns and ran for another, and the Sweetwater JV foot-ball team improved to 4-1 overall by defeating Snyder’s JV, 36-14, in the teams’ district opener here Thursday.
Hunter Mobley and Deshaun Williams each had two TD catches for Sweetwater. Mobley finished with five catches in all. The offensive line — led by C.J. Adames, Dylan Jimenez, Zach Garcia and Branson Guelker — did a great job of pass blocking the entire night, according to coach Chris Carruthers, and Adrian Vizzerra was a standout on both sides of the ball. Vizzerra had 16 tackles on defense and, Carruthers said, ran hard and made some key blocks on the edge on offense.
Josh Procter, who had four tackles for a loss in-cluding two sacks, and Michael Green, who had a key interception in the second half that stopped a Snyder drive, were also standouts defensively, ac-cording to Carruthers.
