JV teams drop road games at Monahans

Sweetwater lost both of its sub-varsity games at Monahans on Thursday.
The JV White team fell 21-8 and the JV Red team lost by a score of 49-6.
Both teams host Levelland this week starting with the Red team at 5 p.m.
Monahans 21,
Sweetwater White 8
Sweetwater White (1-1) scored on a 28-yard run by T.C. Huitt in the second quarter as well as a safety in the third period.
In addition to the safety, Isaiah McGee had an inter-ception for the Mustangs and Martese Harris, Ty Davis and Daniel Linebaugh were other top defenders, while Deandre Gatson and Jordan Putnam were the other top offensive players.
“It was a hard, tough game by two programs that have a rich football tradition,” said coach Jarrett Vickers. “The kids played their hearts out.”
Monahans 49,
Sweetwater Red 6
Sweetwater Red (1-1) got its only points on a 40-yard run by Stanley Castillo in the second quarter. Seth Peeples, Kris Duran, Jonathon Neri and Kevin Thompson were other top offensive players while on defense, T.J. Williams, Zack Carrasco and Chris Hill were standouts.
