Sweetwater Red (1-4) got its only points on a 43-yard pass from Seth Peeples to Nathan Weidebusch in the fourth quarter but came up just short at Mustang Bowl. On defense, Kris Duran had an interception and tipped pass and Chris Castro had a tackle for a loss.
“We played hard and are proud of the kids’ effort,” said coach Al Hunt.

The Sweetwater JV Red team jumped out to a 33-0 lead after the opening per-iod as they improved to 4-1 this season.
The first-quarter scores came on runs of 19 and 11 yards by T.C. Huitt, a 65-yard punt return by Bray Amos, a 4-yard run by Ty Davis and a 4-yard pass from Kaegan Jeffrey to Duanta Williams. Jeffrey also kicked an extra point and threw a 2-point pass to James Clift. Also, Jeffrey threw a 16-yard TD pass to Deandre Gatson and Xavier Jones scored on a 55-yard run for Sweetwater.
Amos, Gatson and Isaiah McGee had interceptions. Austin Marlett forced a fumble that McGee recovered for the Mustangs.
