Kiwanis Club to host first scholarship golf tournament

March 25, 2014

The Kiwanis Club of Sweetwater is hosting its first-ever scholarship golf tournament in conjunction with the Sweetwater Country Club.
The event will be held on Saturday, March 29, with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. and tee times starting at 9 a.m. Entry fees are $45 per person (pre-registration) or $50 for those registering on the day of the tournament.
Fees include green fee, cart and range balls. While the event is a four-person scramble, single participants can register and will be accepted.
One of the primary goals for the local Kiwanis Club is to raise scholarship funds to provide support to Sweetwater high school students who will attend college in the fall.
"We plan to award two $1,000 scholarships this year to deserving students," said event organizers. "However, this all depends on the amount of funds available."
In 2013, the Kiwanis Club donated over $6,000 to local charities and organizations. They hope to continue the success in 2014 and exceed last year's contributions in order to serve the children of the community.
