The Sweetwater Kiwanis Club is joining forces with Pappy's Bait and Grill Shop to sponsor a Kids Fishing Tournament to be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012.
The event will be held at the Lake Sweetwater Boat Ramp, with the competition running from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
The entry fee is $5 per entrant, which includes lunch, gifts and prizes that will take place after the tournament. Prizes will be awarded for the Biggest Fish, Smallest Fish and Outstanding Angler to the following age groups: 3 to 5 year olds, 6 to 8 year olds, 9 to 12 year olds and 13 to 16 year olds.
Bait and tackle will be available for sale at the store. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, and they will also get the chance to meet the game wardens from Nolan, Fisher, Taylor and Scurry counties.
No alcohol will be permitted at the event. Also, no fishing license will be required for entrants under 16 years of age. Parents will be able to help their children fish without a license, but will need to have the permit if they plan to fish on their own.
To pre-register for the Kids Fishing Tournament, go to Pappy's Bait Shop and Grill or call 338-1854. Registration will also take place on the morning of the tournament.
