Lady ‘Stangs to start on Monday

August 4, 2012

Sweetwater High School officially kicks off its 2012 volleyball season Monday with the first practices, followed by the teams’ first scrimmages just four days later and then the Lady Mustangs’ opening season matches Monday, Aug. 13.
SHS head coach Liz Miller expects between 45 and 50 athletes to report Monday at 6:30 a.m. Morning workouts will be from 7:15 a.m. to noon with a 45-minute break in between, followed by a 90-minute lunch break and an afternoon practice from 1:30-4 p.m.
The workout schedule will then be slightly modified before the first scrimmage is played Friday at San Angelo Central, followed by a second scrimmage Saturday at Wolfforth Frenship. Sweetwater hosts a single match against Grape Creek in its Aug. 13 season opener, as well as a dual match the following day against Seminole and Water Valley.
