Lady Mustangs to face Iowa Park in 3A softball playoff

After finishing as the No. 3 team in District 5-3A, the Sweetwater softball team will next face Iowa Park in a Class 3A bi-district playoff.
The playoff has been set for Monday, April 30 in Graham at 7:30 p.m.

SHS tennis players fall in quarterfinals
LUBBOCK — Sweetwater High School’s entries at the Region I-3A tennis tournament were eliminated in the quarterfinals Wednesday.
The Sweetwater mixed doubles team of Chris Her-nandez and Madison Men-eses defeated Benavides-Havens of Mineral Wells 6-1, 6-0 in their opening match before losing to Brady Lujan-Hillary Ochoa of Monahans 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, while Heidi Taylor won her first girls singles match 6-1-, 6-1 over Hillsboro’s Carolina Herrera before losing to Shallowater’s Claire Blackwell 2-6, 5-7 in her quarterfinal match.

Girls golf team 4th
SAN ANGELO — The Sweetwater High School girls golf team is in fourth place after Wednesday’s first round of the Region I-3A tournament at the San Angelo Country Club.
SHS shot an opening 408 to trail second-place Snyder and Monahans (372) by 36 shots entering today’s final round. First-place Andrews (318) has a 54-shot lead over its nearest competitors.
Sweetwater’s best score in Wednesday’s first round came from Elise Lawrence, who shot 90. Her score pla-ces her just outside the top 10 tournament medalists. Sweetwater’s other team scores came from Molly Fincher, who shot 103; Amy Witt, who shot 106; Alex Gomez (109) and Haylee Stewart (122). The top two teams and top two individ-uals not on one of the top two teams will advance to the state tournament.
