Lady Mustangs lose to B-Spring

PLAYER OF THE MATCH: Kayla Chowning - 4 kills, 9 digs

BIG SPRING — After a lopsided defeat in Game 1, the Sweetwater volleyball team matched Big Spring almost point-for-point in the second game of their District 4-3A match Tues-day. But the Lady Mustangs ultimately fell short against the No. 21-ranked team in the state as Big Spring went on to claim a 25-6, 25-23, 25-16 victory.
Big Spring is now 3-1 in district play and 22-10 over-all. Sweetwater — which saw its records fall to 1-3 in district play, 10-18 overall — returns to action on Fri-day when the team travels to Snyder for a key match that starts at 5 p.m.
Against Snyder, Shaneese Brown had a team-high seven kills plus four digs; Kayla Chowning had four kills and a team-high nine digs; and Aly Heredia led the team with seven assists and two aces plus five digs. Also coming up with digs were Morgan Gomez with eight, Alexis Williams with seven, Maddie Berry with six, Mikki Reschman with three and Mikeilah Foust and Maddie Jones with two. Jones also had four assists and Foust had one block.
