Lady Mustangs lose to Wylie
The Lady Mustangs entered Friday's game in a three-way tie, for second place in district, with Big Spring and Snyder. Sweetwater went in 2-3 and Wylie was 1-3. Sweetwater went in tied for second in district with Snyder and Big Spring and beat Wylie 7-6 the first time they played. Snyder beat Big Spring 3-0 on Friday.Friday's match up started as a hitter's dream when both teams opened up with two run homers. Cassie Cummings staked Wylie (9-14 overall, 2-3 district) to a two-run lead in the first with her two-run shot that hit a truck just beyond the fence in left.Sweetwater (2-4 district), however, countered with four runs on seven hits in the bottom of the inning. Kelsi Crosson had an RBI double and scored on Alicia Finn's two-run homer to center field. Kinsey Browning capped the inning with an RBI single.The Lady Bulldogs sent 11 batters to the plate in a five-run third to go ahead 7-4. Wylie's first four batters had a hit, including an RBI triple by Melyssa Lunsford and an RBI single by Yarbrough. Middleton added an RBI single, and West capped the inning with a two-run double.Sweetwater cut the lead to 7-5. Taylor McKoy reached on a bunt single in the fifth and took second on a throwing error on the play.
