Lady Mustangs sweep at home

Playing at home for the first time in over three weeks, Sweetwater High School’s volleyball team swept past Lamesa in three games Tuesday, winning 27-25, 25-12, 25-8.
The sub-varsity squads also won in straight sets as the JV beat Lamesa 25-21, 25-10 and the freshmen won by scores of 25-13, 25-16.
Kayla Chowning finished with nine kills, four digs and three assists for the Lady Mustangs (8-12), while Kensi Chowning and Shaneese Brown each had seven kills. Brown also had eight digs. Morgan Gomez finished with a team-high 14 digs and Mikki Reschman had six digs and four service aces. Aly Heredia had 13 assists and four digs and fellow setter Maddie Jones had nine assists and three digs for Sweetwater, which plays a dual match Saturday at Lubbock Cooper. Ziggy Collins had four kills and three digs, while Jones, Mikealah Foust and Maddie Berry each had two kills.
