Area regional and district golf results

LUBBOCK — The Sweet-water girls golf team enters today’s final round of the Region I-3A tournament at Lubbock’s Meadowbrook Golf Course in sixth place after shooting a 375 in Mon-day’s opening round.
Jodie May shot 91 to pace Sweetwater’s effort while Katie High shot 93, Sarah Witt 94, Elise Lawrence 97 and Alex Gomez 99.
Andrews (328) currently leads the team standings by two shots over Snyder, with Burkburnett two more shots back at 332. Pecos is fourth with a 344 total and Monahans (349) is in cur-rently in fifth place.
Sweetwater’s Ryan Mercer will compete as a medalist starting on Wednesday at the same venue as Lub-bock’s Meadowbrook Golf Course is also hosting the boys Region I-3A tourney. Mercer, a junior, is making his third straight trip to the regional tournament.
Highland and Blackwell, meanwhile, had golfers who competed recently at the District 11-A tourney that concluded at San Angelo.The Highland boys team shot an 812 total to finish in fourth place. Play-ers were Landon Rowlett (187), Addison Crain (200), Jordan Rowan (209), Thomas Stewart (219) and Nabil Sutjiptu (230).
Robert Lee (671) and Bronte (768) were 1-2 in the team standings to advance to regionals, with Baird (782) in third place. Rowlett was ninth among medalists, missing a chance to go to regionals by five shots.
Competing as boys district medalists were Black-well’s Caleb Magness and Caleb Jeter and Highland’s Michael Hyde and Brandt Stevens, while two Black-well golfers — Brooklyn Harris and Hannah Coff-man — competed as girls district medalists.
