Lady Stangs back on road after loss

Sweetwater will play at Abilene Cooper at 6 p.m. today after losing at Haskell 40-25 on Saturday.
Sweetwater (0-2) led 12-9 after one quarter but trailed 23-18 at halftime and 33-22 after three periods. Jessica Poe and Nevaeh Sarabia led the Lady Mustangs by scoring six points, followed by Rashavia Green with four, Amber Knox and Meghann Olguin with three, Elli Lehnert with two and Kyla Daniel two. Knox and Olguin hit 3-pointers for Sweetwater.
The JV girls finished second at Haskell’s tournament after losing to Haskell 40-26 in the title game.
Sweetwater routed Hawley 34-15 and Olney 42-16 and lost to Seymour 26-24 prior to the title game.
Kyla Daniel had 13 points and Alex Bell and Mia Valdez six vs. Hawley; Daniel had eight, Bell seven and Jazzy Villa and Cazilyn Solis six vs. Olney; Villa had 10 and Bell eight vs. Seymour; and Kierstyn Thompson had eight vs. Haskell.
