Lady Stangs get split decision

The Sweetwater volleyball team got a split decision Tuesday when it played a three-way match at Water Valley that also included San Angelo Lake View.
The Lady Mustangs (10-7 overall) started out against Lake View and won 25-19, 25-13, 25-21, but then lost to host team Water Valley 25-27, 22-25, 20-25.
Individual leaders for Sweetwater against Lake View were Kendra Crosson with six kills, two digs and three blocks; Kathleen Campbell with four kills, seven blocks, three digs and one ace; Shelby Cason with three kills, two blocks and two digs; Kelsi Crosson with three kills, four aces and one dig; Suede Shirley with five aces, seven assists, one kill and one dig; Alicia Finn with two kills, seven assists and one block; Larissa Locklar and Taylor McPherson each with one kill and one dig; and Kinsey Browning and Allie Zavaleta each with one ace and two digs. Sweetwater had also defeated Lake View three days earlier in bracket play at a tournament held in San Angelo.
Against Water Valley, Sweetwater’s individual leaders were Kendra Crosson with nine kills, two digs and one block; Campbell with six kills, four blocks and one dig; Cason with five kills, two blocks and two digs; Kelsi Crosson with 11 digs and five kills; Finn with 10 assists, one kill, four digs and two blocks; Shirley with 10 assists, one kill and three digs; McPherson with one kill, two assists and two digs; Zavaleta with four digs; Browning with three digs; and Locklar with one block.
Sweetwater, which is just one win away from equalling last season’s total, will resume play at Wolfforth Frenship’s two-day tournament that begins Friday.
