Funeral services for Latanya Sweet Gaines, 48, of Snyder, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at McCoy Chapel of Memories. Pastor G.T. Garnett II of King Soloman Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
A wake will be held Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, from 6-8 p.m.
Gaines died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, in Snyder.
She was born Aug. 29, 1963 in Spur, Texas. Latanya moved to Snyder in 2003, where she was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church (Pastor Shannon Harrison). She graduated from Sweetwater High School and extended her education at North Texas State University. She was employed at Patterson UTI in Snyder. She was a secretary for Lovely Sunset District Baptist Association.
Survivors include her husband, Kevin Gaines of Dallas; sons, Justin Gaines of Snyder and Jordan Gaines of Snyder; parents, Rev. Robert and Linda Sweet of Sweetwater; four brothers, Michael Sweet of Sweetwater, Wendall Sweet and wife Teresa of Albuquerque, N.M., Robert Sweet, Jr. and wife Diane of San Antonio, and Craig (Tony) Sweet and wife Marcie of Duncanville; three sisters, Terry Sweet of Dallas, Joyce White and husband Doug of Dallas, and Marsha Sweet of Dallas; step sister, Wanda Saddler of Abilene; step brothers, Antonio Atkins of Sweetwater and Bobby Atkins, Jr. and Noel of Gulfport, MS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Pallbearers will be Eric D. Sweet, Michael B. Sweet, Steven L. Sweet, Terence J. Sweet, Andre T. Sweet, and Demarcus J. Sweet.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney R. White, Rodney C. Griggs, Quincy D. Griggs, Tommy D. Duncan, Cameron A. Sweet, Allen D. Adney, George E. Patterson, Jr., Evan B. Patterson, Jamar Sweet and Bemetri Sweet.
